PURPOSE

The purpose of the Livermore Filipino-American Organization, Inc. Scholarship Award is to provide recognition and encouragement to the children of the organization's members to pursue higher education at an accredited college or university. 

 

AWARDS / AMOUNT

Three one-time non-renewable scholarships will be awarded to qualified high school seniors. The first place winner will receive $2,500.00, the second place $1,500.00 and the third place $1,000.00. In addition, Honorable Mention awards ($500.00) will be handed to those not in the top three placements. The scholarship awards are to be used only for tuition, fees, or supplies.

 

ELIGIBILITY

Each applicant must be a current Fil-Am member or a child of a current Fil-Am member. Applicants must be a current high school senior at Livermore High School, Granada High School, Del Valle Continuation High School or Vineyard Alternative School.

 

SELECTION CRITERIA

• Academic history and accomplishments

• Extra-curricular activities, honors, and qualifications

• Essay

• Letter(s) of recommendation

 

APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS

• A completed application form

• A complete copy of official high school transcript

• A copy of SAT/ACT report

• A 250-500 word essay with the following  topic: “Growing Up As a Filipino-American”
